The Institute now has five faculties, including twenty specialities catering for undergraduate or sub-degree levels, such as Mathematics Education, Chinese Education, Educational Administration, Music Education, computer Science Education, and so on. It also includes Zhejiang Province's Training Center of Educational Administrative Personnel , Zhejiang Province's Training Center of Primary and Secondary School Teachers (including the Sino-German Joint Program), and Zhejiang Province's Training Center of Primary and Secondary School Computer Science Teachers.
FACULTY OF THE HUMANITIES Back to top Faculty of the Humanities is composed of four departments:
Each department has research sites in primary and secondary schools for teaching experimentation.32% of the staff has professorship or associate professorship, and 48% has acquired high academic degree. The staff members are well qualified for both teaching and research. There have been many academic works and works of translation published, and about 100 academic publications have national influence. Many of the graduated students in the past few years are now educational administrators in cities, counties, schools, and still more of them are playing a leading role in subject teaching .
FACULTY OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISRATION Back to top Faculty of Educational Administration, incorporated with Zhejiang Province's Training Center of Educational Administrative Personnel and the Institute's Section of Administrator's Training, has two departments:
And three specialities including Educational Administration and Primary Education (in the direction of educational administration). Among the 20 faculty members, there are one professor, eight associate professors, nine masters of arts or doctors of philosophy, Since its foundation in 1987,the Faculty has trained 1,300 undergraduate or sub-degree students, over 2,000 senior middle school principals, and 140 directors of city (prefecture) or county education commissions. It has published more than 100 academic books or textbooks and over 300 articles. Over 50 various educational scientific research projects have been undertaken, and 10 educational experimentation bases in primary and middle schools have been set up.20 educational or teaching scientific research prizes were awarded in all kinds of levels and fields.

With the specialities of Mathematics Education, Physics Education, Physics Laboratary Technology, Chemistry Education, Biology Education, Geography Education, and Tourism Management Education (including the Center of Tourism Management Education). Among the fairly competent faculty members,43% are professors or associate professors. Some old professors are of great attainments while a group of young teachers are also showing their talent in scientific research. While focusing on degree education, the Faculty also actively undertakes the task of training in-service science teachers of middle schools.
FACULTY OF INFORMATION AND CONTEMPORARY EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES Back to top Faculty of information and Contemporary Educational Technologies consists of Department of Computer Science, Department of Contemporary Educational Technologies, and Zhejiang Province's Training Center of Primary and Secondary School Computer Science Teachers, with its present specialities of Computer Science Education and Contemporary Educational Technologies. 33% of the staff are professors or associate professors, The laboratories are equipped with advanced facilities. It now has a multi-media lab, a winschool multi-media computer lab, a micro-teaching lab, an audiovisual education lab, and several computer labs with more than 150 computers.
FACULTY OF ART AND SPORTS Back to top Faculty of Art and Sports is divided into three departments:
While it undertakes the involved continued education, its main task is training the teachers of music, fine art, and sports for secondary schools. At present, the Faculty basically has all the necessary teaching instruments, equipment, and arenas. The fixed asset has amounted to over one million yuan. The faculty members, of whom 14% are associate professors and 41% are lecturers, are reasonably structured to have strong academic competence and teaching and scientific research abilities. Its fine arts works, music performance, and sports matches have won several national and provincial awards. The Faculty has also invited 12 professors and 6 associate professors from China Academy of Fine Arts and Hangzhou University as concurrent professor. |
